Original work painted on watercolor paper with a slightly ribbed surface texture. The work is from my series "Ultramarine," painted with the beautiful ultramarine blue color, which glows so beautifully in good company – especially with the sun.
The special thing about this work is that behind the blue layer of paint, a story unfolds of light brushstrokes and markings in burgundy, delicate blue, and green. As if something is happening behind the ultramarine blue "grid" that you can explore.
The artwork is mounted on a white background and framed in solid oak and ART glass with minimal reflection – in fact, you might wonder if there's even glass on it.
The painting is done with a meticulous hand, and although it has a more stringent and graphic expression than my abstract works, you will still discern the imperfections and the hand-painted quality when you get up close. For me, it's the crooked and the imperfect that make my works special. That nothing is neat, symmetrical. Or boring. But crooked and full of character.
